This class guide provides information and links to sources to help you find the information you'll need for your research paper. The guide is divided into the following sections:

  • Background Info - specialized encyclopedias that can provide quick facts and context for your research topic
  • Secondary Sources - finding books and scholarly articles related to your research topic 
  • Primary Sources: Book - finding books that are primary sources
  • Primary Sources: Articles - finding newspaper and magazine articles
  • Primary Sources: Government - finding government documents
  • Additional Primary Sources - explore additional sources including images

Citation Guide

Historian's generally use the Chicago style format for footnotes/endnotes and bibliography.  This one page guide provides examples for the most common type of sources.  See the Citations and Writing page for more guides and information.
