How do I find out if the article I need is online?
You’re reading an article, when in the list of references, you come across a citation for a journal article that looks interesting.
Hermes, M. (2005). "Mn'iingan is just a misspelling of the word wolf": A case for teaching culture through language. Anthropology and Education Quarterly, 36(1), 43-56.
Is this article available online? Let’s find out.
Start at the UW Libraries homepage, www.lib.washington.edu.
Click on Electronic Journals.
If you’re off campus, you’ll first need to log in by clicking on the off-campus access box in the upper right-hand corner of the screen. Here you’ll enter your UW NetID and password.
From the article citation, we’ll take the title of the journal itself, and type it into the search box.
This journal is available online in a number of ways to UW users.
Because this article was published in 2005, we’ll select the online journal option that allows access for that year. Here we have a few options that include access for 2005.
Let’s select Anthrosource, which provides articles from Anthropology & Education Quarterly from March 1997-present.
Clicking on this option will take us to Anthrosource’s site for this journal. From the list of journal issues, we’ll select the 2005, Volume 36, Number 1 option.
This opens the journal for us, and we can scroll down to the article we want.
Remember, if you get stuck or have any questions, contact a UW Librarian by clicking on the “Ask Us” link on the UW Libraries homepage.
