Science Boot Camp West 2014, Seattle, WA July 9th-11th: Accommodations, Transport & Directions

Overnight participants will stay in Alder Hall, a new dormitory on the University of Washington campus. Check in is at Lander Hall, located adjacent to Alder Hall. Lander Hall check-in desk is open 24 hours a day. If you are arriving early and would like to confirm that your accommodations are ready, you may call the Lander Front desk (206-543-0235) on the day of your arrival.

Registration includes the following:

• Linens and towels
• Wi-Fi and Ethernet ports

There is a market with fresh produce and ready-made foods, and a coffee shop within the same building.  

Traveling from and to Sea-Tac International Airport:

Public Transportation 

The SeaTac /Airport station of the Link Light Rail is connected to the fourth floor of the airport garage. Trains arrive and depart on the platform level of the station. The covered, level walkway to the airport terminal is one level down on the mezzanine. The well-lit walkway is separated from the main area of the garage and directional signs point the way to the main terminal skybridge. Wheelchair service is available.  It is a 10 to 15 minute walk from the airport doors through the garage and walkway to the train itself.  

The Link Light Rail service runs from 5 a.m. to 1 a.m. Monday through Saturday and 6 a.m to midnight on Sundays. Trains arrive and depart every 7 1/2 to 15 minutes, depending on the time of day.  Get off the Light Rail train at  Int'l District Chinatown Station, stay in the tunnel and transfer to King County Metro Bus (71, 72 or 73) to the University District. Exit the bus at NE Campus Pkwy & Brooklyn Ave NE, at Alder Hall, which is both the accomodation dorm and the location of the conference presentations.

For specific details for the time of day you are arriving, use the Trip Planner.  The trip costs around $5.00 for an adult and takes around 1 hour and 10 minutes. 

ShuttleExpress

You may be interested in booking a ride with ShuttleExpress.  Look for the North Seattle/UW route.  The shuttle drops off and picks up at Lander Hall, which is near Alder Hall, where we are lodging.  Please contact ShuttleExpress with specific questions.

Taxi 

Yellow Taxi (206) 622-6500 is available on the third floor of the parking garage.  Be prepared to pay over $50 for a trip.

Parking:

All guests must stop at a campus gatehouse (Mon-Fri 6am-9pm, Sat 7am-12pm) to purchase a permit and receive directions to their destination.

Limited parking is available for visitors on campus; carpooling is strongly encouraged. Parking fees are charged daily, Monday through Friday, and on Saturday from 7 am to noon. There is no charge to park after noon on Saturday through midnight on Sunday, and on UW holidays. Rates are subject to change without advance notice. Parking fees are payable upon entrance to the campus. 

Overnight parking is available near the residence halls. Complimentary parking is not available. Availability is limited and not guaranteed. Long-term parking permits may be purchased at the Conference Desk at check-in.

Parking permits allow guests to enter and exit campus as they please. Disability parking permits or other special parking accommodations should be arranged in advance through Conference Services.
