Kearney Barton Collection of NW Music: King's Men

This guide contains information about and links to recordings from the Kearney Barton Collection of NW Music.

About The King's Men

While we have been unable to confirm information about The King's Men, these notes were included in the original box in which we found the master tapes:

"The King's Men...U of W Freshmen singing for five years Seattle area. Sung engagements at Seattle's Colony Club, Skippers Club and several local theatre shows. All 19 years old."

The King's Men (Barton 04609, items 1-7, MP3)

This recording is from the Kearney Barton Collection, featuring the King's Men (not to be confused with Kingsmen or The Kingsmen). We do not have information on the group due to the abundance of groups called "The King's Men" (or other derivations) in the 1950s and 60s, but this group is believed to be a local group that is different from the more recognized Portland-based "Kingsmen" who had popular hits in the 50s and 60s.

Notes from the original tape-box:
"The King's Men, Walt Jule Seattle 55, Wash 11539 24th NE. U of W Freshmen singing for five years Seattle area. Sung engagements at Seattle's Colony Club, Skippers Club and several local theatre shows. All 19 years old."
