- Thu, Nov 12th, 2009: Environmentalist Lester Brown
Brown is credited with helping pioneer the concept of sustainable development in the 1970s. He's founder and president of the Earth Policy Institute. He will be speaking at 7pm in Kane 130. - Wed, Nov 18th, 2009: Film and Panel Discussion: Drifting Station Alpha in the Arctic
World premiere of new film documenting the trials of Arctic Ice Station Alpha. One of the film's creators will introduce the film. Concludes with panel discussion on how knowledge of Arctic sea ice has changed over time. (HUB 310, 3:30pm) - Wed, Nov 18th, 2009: Meet, Greet, Teach - An Informal Conversation about Interdisciplinary Teaching on Environmental Issues
Over a glass of wine and light appetizers, attendees have a chance to mix and mingle, before settling down to a 30-minute "fast panel" of faculty, each delivering thought, and conversation, provoking answers. Please RSVP: poe@uw.edu (MGH 258, 5pm)
Global Warming Tide Rising
Video of the art installation put together by the Program on Climate Change to illustrate the potential effects of global warming on Puget Sound beaches.
